WORKING WITH PRICE DATA

Make a fair comparison.

1. Start with a Target product

Choose a department or search a product, brand, model, or UPC. Open a comparison to review competitor offers.

2. Check the match

Exact: the same identifier, model, and pack. Similar: an alternative that serves the same purpose. Suggested: a candidate that still needs a merchant’s review. Similar does not mean equivalent quality or performance.

3. Compare the same basis

Use unit pricing when sizes or pack counts differ. Check variants, seller, location, fulfillment, and promotion requirements. Shipping, tax, memberships, and coupons are excluded unless recorded.

4. Check the date

Every price is an observation, not a guarantee of the current checkout price. Historical imports keep their original dates. A source check updates a price only when the matching product and currency can be confirmed.

5. Use merchant intelligence

Price opportunities require confirmed or reviewed matches and recent observations. Parity prices are references for review, with margin, inventory and funding checks still needed. Guest-rating alerts apply your minimum review count and freshness rules.

Assortment candidates identify products without a confirmed identical match in this captured sample. Check Target’s full assortment and distribution rights. Trend reports, social metrics and retailer badges are labeled separately. Historical research is not current virality.

6. Keep your own watchlist

Saved products, match decisions, imports, and observations are stored in a personal workspace associated with this browser. Export your work to use it elsewhere. Alert rules, acknowledgments and research notes are also saved. Alerts update inside the app as data loads or refreshes; email and unattended monitoring are not connected.

This is an independent workspace designed for Target merchant workflows. Retailer coverage is limited to the records and data sources shown in Data coverage.
